Turkmen football players will start in the CAFA-2025 championship among youth teams U20

The Turkmenistan national team will take part in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship among youth teams (under 20), which will be held from 10th to 17th of June in the Tajik cities of Gissar and Tursunzade.

The tournament will feature 6 teams divided into 2 groups.

Following the draw, the Turkmenistan U20 youth team will play in Group «B» of the CAFA-2025 Championship. Our team will compete against the teams of Iran and Uzbekistan. The youth teams of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will play in Group «A».

The teams will play in a single round at the group stage. Then the group winners will meet in the final. The teams that take second place in the groups will play for bronze medals. There will also be a consolation match for fifth-sixth places.

Since last year, the Turkmenistan U20 youth team has been coached by 44-year-old Dovletmurad Annayev, who previously won the first league with Kopetdag in 2019, then helped Tofik Shukurov work with this team in the top league, headed FC Ashgabat and Ahal as head coach, as well as the Turkmenistan U17 youth team at the Asian Championship qualifying tournament in Jordan. Dayanch Garajayev and goalkeeper coach Merdan Saparov help him in working with the team.

Before participating in the CAFA-2025 championship, the Turkmenistan youth team held a training camp in Bukhara, to which 20 football players were invited. These are Yakupmuhammet Govshudov, Berdimyrat Danatarov, Annamyrat Meredov, Medetgeldi Charyyev, Shyhnyyaz Atayev (all from «Ahal»), Akmuhammet Amanov, Orazguly Orazgulyyev, Veyisgeldi Orazdurdyyev, Geldimyrat Cholukov (all from «Altyn Asyr»), Diyargylych Urazov, Yagmyr Hojiyev, Suleymannazar Govshudov (all three from «Arkadag»), Kerim Bayramov, Hemra Gylyjov (both from «Ashgabat»), Gurbanguly Garayev, Vadim Bechin (both from «Shagadam»), Izzat Erkinov («Merv»), Ahmet Sapardyyev («Kopetdag»), Arslan Vepayev («Altyn Tach» Academy) and Jelaletdin Yangabayev (Academy «Chigotay» Uzbekistan).
