The delegation of Turkmenistan is taking part in the international environmental conference, which is being held from 24th to 26th of July in the Altai Republic on the territory of the ski resort «Manzherok» near the administrative center of the Republic - Gorno-Altaysk. The event is being held with the participation of government delegations of eight countries - Russia, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting of guests was held colourfully in two guises - in the traditions of the indigenous people of Altai and Russian culture. According to the agenda, various events are planned on the sidelines of the forum dedicated to current issues of nature conservation of the entire Eurasian continent, which are distributed in several directions. This is the impact of climate change on water resources, minimisation of such consequences, protection of specially protected natural areas, development of a network of transboundary reserves and natural national parks, regulation of anthropogenic load on ecocomplexes.

During the plenary session entitled «Environmental Challenges: Towards Sustainable Development», representatives of states highlighted the environmental agenda of their countries and environmental protection activities carried out at the state level.

The conference will include a ministerial session «How to Maintain the Global Water Balance?», a thematic meeting dedicated to the promotion of transboundary ecotourism, and the development of such routes. The participants paid special attention to the topic of preserving biodiversity with an emphasis on protecting the snow leopard population (a leopard that lives in the mountainous regions of the Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan).

The participants are considering the possibilities of exchanging experiences and implementing joint projects in the field of the topics under discussion.
