Foreign language week was held at the Engineering and technology university of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han, turning into a vibrant and memorable event for all participants, university representatives, and guests.
Dedicated to english and japanese, the week was organised by faculty from the departments of foreign languages in engineering and linguistics, along with students who actively and enthusiastically participated.
The foreign language week included competitions, games, quizzes, and vibrant exhibitions of cultural treasures from Japan and english-speaking countries. One of the highlights was an exhibition of Japanese cultural items. Students displayed Japanese national costumes, literature, and artwork, including origami works that drew particular attention. Handmade figurines of birds and animals, branches of cherry blossoms, and models of traditional Japanese houses adorned not only the exhibition but also the interior of the university's spacious foyer and corridors. Brief explanations in English and Japanese were provided for each work.
Entertaining competitions and educational games with student participation took place in a lively and festive atmosphere. First-year students were primarily involved in these activities. The competitions and games in Japanese and English provided students with an excellent opportunity to practice and enhance their grammar, vocabulary, oral communication skills, and dialogue.
As students emphasised during the week's closing ceremony, the event significantly increased their interest in learning foreign languages, the history and culture of countries around the world, and the development of intercultural communication. Faculty and organisers noted that the cultural and educational events included in the week's program, which students enthusiastically participated in, further united the friendly university staff for further fruitful work to strengthen intercultural dialogue and expand the horizons of international scientific and educational cooperation.
