Turkmenistan, as a peace-loving neighbour, is strategically important for Afghanistan

Having a peace-loving neighbour like Turkmenistan is strategically important for Afghanistan. This was stated by Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, at a meeting with the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Underscoring this geopolitically relevant factor, the Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan expressed sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their continued support of the Afghan people. Abdul Ghani Baradar also thanked the Turkmen side for the regular humanitarian aid it sends to Afghanistan.

Hero-Arkadag, noting that such large-scale projects, by uniting the countries, will serve as a bridge of friendship and brotherhood between peoples, expressed confidence that they will also create significant preconditions for the further development of the economies of two countries and contribute to improving the well-being of the fraternal Afghan people by providing them with new jobs.

In this context, Hero-Arkadag assured that joint work to further develop relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in various areas will continue.

On the 20th of October, during a visit to neighbouring Afghanistan, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the progress of construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section, known as «Arkadagyň ak ýoly», which is part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
