From the 3rd to 5th of November, a training course on influenza and acute respiratory infection diagnostics was held in Ashgabat for virology laboratory specialists from all regions of Turkmenistan.
Organized by the WHO Country office in Turkmenistan, the training was held at the Centre for public health and nutrition of the state sanitary and Epidemiological service of the Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan.
The course aimed to strengthen national capacity for virological surveillance of influenza and other respiratory pathogens, as well as to improve the effectiveness of early detection and response to potential disease outbreaks.
Representatives from the Centre for public health and nutrition, the centre for the Prevention of particularly dangerous infections, and virology laboratories of the sanitary and epidemiological services of Arkadag and the velayats of the country participated in the training. During the three-day course, participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in PCR diagnostics, including the introduction and theory of the PCR method, practical exercises in influenza diagnostics, and analysis of the obtained results.
The training concluded with practical exercises aimed at consolidating the acquired skills and applying them in everyday laboratory work.
