On the 17th of December, the Turkmen state pedagogical institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi held an online scientific and methodological conference on the topic «The Turkmen language in the system of Turkic-speaking cultures», dedicated to World day of the Turkic language family.

This is the first time this holiday has been celebrated. It was established by UNESCO last November on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the General conference in Samarkand. According to the decision, 15th of December was declared World day of the Turkic language family, designed to highlight the importance of international linguistic cooperation, cultural rapprochement, and dialogue among civilisations.

In this context, a conference at a pedagogical institute in Turkmenistan, attended by professors and instructors from higher education institutions and secondary schools, focused on the study of the Turkmen language, scientific research, and new perspectives in this field. The conference included a plenary session and four panels.

During the conference, scientific and methodological reports were heard on the high importance of the literary works of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the study of the native language.

The presentations highlighted the richness of the Turkmen language, which occupies a worthy place in the family of Turkic languages. The speakers focused on the historical development and modern methods of studying and teaching the Turkmen language.

The forum featured informative presentations covering current trends in linguistics, research methodology, the commonality and interconnectedness of Turkic languages, and the role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in language learning.

Particular attention was paid to the topic of studying the Turkmen language using digital technologies, as well as the current challenges and achievements of Turkmen scientists and linguists.

The speeches repeatedly noted the high significance of the establishment of World Turkic language day, which testifies to the international recognition of the common linguistic, cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples.

As emphasised, this initiative will greatly contribute to strengthening international cooperation in the field of linguistic research, education and cultural exchange.

The scientific and practical conference became an effective platform for exchanging experiences and expanding cooperation in the field of Turkmen language study between the country's higher education institutions.
