The Turkmen agricultural institute hosted the II International scientific and practical online conference on «The Role of biotechnology in sustainable development of the agricultural sector».

Representatives from 88 higher education institutions and research centres from 14 countries, including Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, India, Pakistan, and other countries, participated in the international forum.

The plenary session of the conference was opened by D. Yolov, rector of the Turkmen agricultural institute.

Following the plenary session, international participants delivered substantive presentations via digital video link on the role of biotechnology in sustainable development of the agricultural sector.

The international conference then continued its work in three sections: «Genetics and innovations in agrobiotechnology», «Bioresources, bioremediation, and sustainability», and «Education and capacity development in the agro-industrial complex».

A total of 260 presentations were presented during the conference. The presentations of the most outstanding speakers were recognised and discussed at closing session of the forum.

As part of the scientific and practical conference at the Turkmen agricultural institute, guests were presented with an exhibition of achievements and research projects in the agro-industrial complex.

Summing up the event, participants emphasised the effectiveness and significance of the conference, noting that regularly holding such international meetings makes a significant contribution to the scientific development of the agricultural sector, greatly contributes to the strengthening of scientific and educational inter-university cooperation, and friendly relations between countries.
