Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, presented the key results of the country’s foreign policy at the ceremonial event held in Ashgabat titled “International Year of Peace and Trust: Steadfast Steps of Neutral Turkmenistan”.
According to the Foreign Minister, the modern philosophy of Turkmenistan’s development on the international stage is based on three important interrelated principles: neutrality, peace, and trust. These principles define the state’s status as a responsible member of the United Nations and a reliable partner in addressing global challenges.
R. Meredov emphasized that the year has been a period of active promotion of the idea of neutrality as an effective diplomatic instrument.
“Today we can state with confidence that tremendous work has been carried out to promote neutrality as the foundation of peacebuilding and political dialogue in resolving complex issues. As a result, we see that the world has increasingly recognized the significance of our neutrality and its role as a key factor of security, peace, and sustainable development,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Thus, as part of the implementation of Turkmenistan’s initiatives, hundreds of events were held both within the country and abroad. Special emphasis was placed on cooperation with global media and the expert community to explain the essence of the neutral status. The results of the year confirmed that Turkmenistan’s foreign policy course has received broad resonance and recognition on the international stage, contributing to the development of a culture of international dialogue.
