From January 25 to 31, representatives of Turkmenistan’s education sector are participating in professional development courses for senior leadership of higher education institutions from Central Asian countries, which are being held in the city of Cambridge, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The professional development program is implemented within the framework of the educational project aimed at improving the quality of English language teaching in Central Asia (AELLCA Phase II) and is designed for university leaders from the participating countries. The program has been developed in cooperation with the Cambridge University Press and Assessment. The training is conducted on the basis of the PRESETT (Pre-Service English Teacher Training) program.

On the first day of the visit, delegates from Central Asian countries took part in the official opening ceremony of the training program.

Later that day, the first training module was held on the topic of “Leadership in Implementing Reforms in English Language Teaching within the PRESETT Program”. During the session, participants discussed issues related to planning educational innovations and monitoring their implementation. In addition, the participants studied the practices of the University of Cambridge in the field of curriculum modernization and the wide-scale integration of the English language, as implemented by the University’s Press and Assessment Department. The participants jointly analyzed key challenges in these areas within their own educational institutions and identified priority directions focused on finding effective solutions.

The main objective of the study visit of the Turkmen delegation is to enhance managerial and leadership competencies within the PRESETT system. In addition, participation in the program is aimed at familiarization with innovative methods of English language teaching, the study of advanced pedagogical approaches and international experience in teacher training, expanding knowledge in curriculum development and assessment systems, as well as mastering the practice of applying digital technologies and modern teaching tools, and analyzing the possibilities of integrating the acquired experience into the education system of Turkmenistan.

The study visit of representatives of the national education system to Cambridge is ongoing.
