In his interview with «Al Arabiya» TV channel, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed in detail reforms in the field of education and the special role of the English language in the lives of modern Turkmen youth.

Hero-Arkadag noted that learning English is now a mandatory element of the national educational system. Thus, language study has been introduced in all general education schools in the country, and in four leading universities in Turkmenistan, the educational process has been completely transferred to English.

Particular attention during the conversation was paid to the new «smart» city of Arkadag, which is becoming an innovative educational centre.

«The city of Arkadag plans to open a specialised English-language school where instruction will be based on modern educational methods and standards. It is also important to note that the educational process will be aimed at providing students with the opportunity to continue their education at prestigious US universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Columbia University. It is here that truly broad horizons open up for the ongoing activities of the educational and scientific communities of Turkmenistan and the USA», − said the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

Hero-Arkadag concluded that this approach opens unprecedented horizons for cooperation between the scientific and educational communities of Turkmenistan and the United States of America.
