Turkmen sportsmen won 123 medals in the first three months of 2026

Over the first three months of this year, measures were taken to develop physical education and sports, and international cooperation in this area. The sportsmen demonstrated high results at international competitions, winning 123 medals. This was announced by deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov at a government meeting where the results of socio-economic development of the country for the first quarter of 2026 were summarised.

Summarising the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of effective work in science, education, healthcare, and sports, instructing the deputy-prime to continuously implement relevant work to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people.

Continuing the meeting, the head of state emphasised that World health day will be widely celebrated in Turkmenistan on the 7th of April. The country attaches great importance to the development of sports and the widespread introduction of active lifestyle principles into society.

Taking this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly congratulated the meeting participants and his people on World health day.

The meeting participants also sincerely congratulated the President of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag on World health day.

World health day has been celebrated since 1950 on the 7th of April, the day the World health organisation (WHO) was founded in 1948. Today, 194 states are its members, including Turkmenistan.

The main idea of World health day is to remind people of the importance of a healthy lifestyle: following the principles of proper nutrition, giving up bad habits and addictions, and engaging in regular physical activity.
