In Turkmenistan, systematic work continues to modernise the national legislative framework. At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairperson of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova informed the head of state about the results of the twelfth meeting of the parliament of the seventh convocation, which took place on the 11th of April.

As reported, during the meeting, deputies discussed and adopted a number of draft amendments to existing laws aimed at adapting the legal system to modern realities. The focus was on protecting the legitimate interests and freedoms of citizens, improving accounting standards, financial reporting and licensing procedures, ensuring safety in hazardous industries, developing road activities, rational use of aquatic bioresources and developing fisheries, and updating migration regulations in accordance with international standards.

After hearing the information, the President of Turkmenistan accented the need for a systematic approach to lawmaking. The head of state emphasised the importance of continuing and, in the future, preparing new, timely legislation, as well as improving existing legal acts.
