Over the past four months of the year, the artisans of the Mary Artistic carpet weaving enterprise, «Independent neutral Turkmenistan – homeland of purposeful winged horses», have woven 560 square metres of carpets and rugs. Timely order fulfilment allowed the company to achieve 10% growth compared to the same period last year.
In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, the popularity and fame of elegant Turkmen carpets is increasing throughout the world. The skilled craftswomen of the company make a significant contribution to the creation of canvases of unique beauty, preserving the national heritage passed down from mothers and grandmothers and developing the Turkmen art of carpet weaving.
The company has three production workshops across the velayat, where carpet weavers work on a contract basis. The company weaves not only large-sized carpets, but also various types of carpet products. The work is carried out in accordance with the orders of the State association «Türkmenhaly». Monthly established plans are successfully implemented. The high quality of the products is evidenced by their sales figures. According to experts, 400 square metres of carpets and rugs were sold in the first four months of this year.
The employees of the company are preparing to celebrate the holiday of Turkmen Carpet, celebrated annually on the last Sunday of May, with worthy labour gifts. As part of the festive exhibition, it is planned to organise an exhibition and sale of carpets and rugs woven by the craftswomen of the company. These include Turkmen carpets, women's bags (torba), teapot covers, tablecloth covers, seat covers, carpet bags-horjuns, etc.
At the enterprise, Turkmen carpets are mainly made from the wool of Sarajin sheep. The raw materials required for carpet weaving – yarn – are delivered from the Ashgabat wool spinning enterprise «Argaç» of the State association «Türkmenhaly». Currently, carpets made on the basis of orders from institutions, enterprises and individuals are woven from wool and silk for durability.
Experts at the Mary art carpet weaving enterprise note that the key to their success lies in the high respect for the carpet-making profession and the respectful attitude of the country toward national carpet-weaving traditions. For the upcoming celebration of the 35th anniversary of sacred independence of Turkmenistan, team of the company intends to prepare a creative gift: weaving carpets with a total area of 80 square metres.
