Caring for a Rich Harvest Is the Key to Future Success

In the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, thanks to the tireless care of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, all necessary conditions and opportunities are being created in Turkmenistan for tenants and farmers to cultivate abundant harvests. This, in turn, helps ensure year-round supplies of fruits and vegetables to the country’s markets and retail outlets.

Positive transformations in this sphere are being successfully implemented in the Balkan velayat along with other regions of the country. The hardworking vegetable and melon growers of the western region, inspired by the reforms carried out under the leadership of President Arkadagly Hero Serdar and initiated by Hero-Arkadag, including the scientific development of the agricultural sector and the introduction of advanced practices adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the velayats, are making a worthy contribution to this noble common cause.

Thus, tenants, entrepreneurs, gardeners, and landowners, who are inseparably connected with the land, consistently achieve rich harvests year after year by ensuring high-quality care for their crops. The region’s workers achieved high production indicators last year, marked by the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Motherland’s neutrality. They exceeded contractual obligations for all types of agricultural products, ensuring abundance throughout the velayat.

It should be noted that the gardeners of the Magtymguly etrap, specializing in pomegranates, figs, and walnuts, the farmers of the Etrek etrap engaged in olive cultivation, as well as the daikhans of the Gyzylarbat, Bereket, and Esenguly etraps producing melon crops, demonstrate a high level of skill in their work. It would not be an exaggeration to say that in these etraps, as throughout the entire Balkan velayat, there is hardly a single farmer or household unable to cultivate all varieties of fruits and vegetables.

Local melon growers achieve outstanding results every year in cultivating the famous Turkmen melons and watermelons — unique gifts of nature rightly considered sweeter than sugar and finer than honey. To achieve this, proper care of melon crops is ensured in accordance with agricultural standards. In addition, in order to obtain abundant and high-quality harvests, farmers study the production experience of previous years and select high-yield, disease-resistant varieties adapted to local soil and climate conditions. Breeding work aimed at developing new varieties is also being carried out as part of this important task.

In the year titled “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” active work on caring for fruit, vegetable, and melon crops is underway across the vast expanses of the velayat. This year, the velayat plans to harvest 52,400 tons of melons and gourds from 2,620 hectares of cultivated plantations. To achieve this goal, crop care is being carried out in strict accordance with agrotechnical requirements.

In this significant year, alongside cotton and wheat, farmers are also aiming for high yields of other agricultural crops. Across the velayat, a rich potato harvest is planned on 2,900 hectares of land, with a projected yield of 40,600 tons. Of this area, spring potatoes have been planted on 1,600 hectares, from which 22,400 tons are expected to be harvested this season. Machine operators and engineering specialists from the production association “Balkanobahyzmat” are demonstrating high activity during the current seasonal work. The work they are carrying out jointly and within the proper agrotechnical timeframes inspires confidence in achieving worthy results.

During the spring season, tenants of the western region expect to harvest 27,500 tons of onions planted on a total area of 1,100 hectares. In the mild spring season, when the land has been clothed in green, the sowing of cabbage and carrots in the velayat was completed within the optimal agrotechnical timeframe, and crop maintenance is currently progressing actively. The high quality of the work being carried out indicates that this responsible campaign will end successfully.

During the upcoming harvest season, 5,750 tons of food-grade cabbage will be collected from 230 hectares, while 8,460 tons of carrots will be harvested from 470 hectares. In addition, the hardworking farmers are confident that they will gather 16,250 tons of tomatoes and 1,000 tons of cucumbers this year. This, in turn, will contribute to the reliable supply of environmentally friendly, competitive, and highly demanded products to the population of the region in the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” marked by the glorious 35th anniversary of the Motherland’s independence.

Effectively making use of the favorable weather conditions of the current spring season, melon growers are providing exemplary care for fruit, vegetable, and melon crops, thereby laying a solid foundation for abundant harvests. They express their boundless gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the comprehensive state support and the opportunities created for cultivating valuable crops.
