Today, in Turkmenistan, World Bicycle Day was widely celebrated. In the mass bicycle ride organised in the capital on the occasion of the international holiday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part and it increased the importance of the sports event.
An important role is attached to this traditional event in the context of the activity carried out in the country with a view to improve the public health and recognize principles of the healthy way of life and advancement of sports culture in society among the youth.
In this connection, the reforms initiated by Hero-Arkadag aimed at promotion of development of physical training and sports in our fatherland have a great significance. Today, in the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, these large-scale transformations are consistently and successfully realised under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Projects of profile infrastructure testify to positive dynamics of measures realised in the field, in particular, modern sports complexes constructed in the capital and regions of the country in recent years and achievements of national sportsmen at the international competitions.
As the holiday of global scale, World Bicycle Day is urged to promote wide popularisation of cycling. At the same time, it visually shows successes in realisation of the international undertakings of Turkmenistan in development of this sport.
In the given context, declaration of June 3 as World Bicycle Day at the initiative of our country and adoption of the Resolution «Integration of mainstream bicycling into public transportation systems for sustainable development» by the consensus at the 61st plenary meeting of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization are remarkable.
On this festive day of the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful winged racers» the mass bicycle ride started from the monument "Bicycle" located at the crossroads of Chandibil avenue and Bekreve street.
There, Chairwoman of the Mejlis, members of the Government, heads of ministries and branch departments, capital administration, public organisations, mass media, rectors of higher educational institutions gathered. Among participants of the bicycle ride were also heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited in our country and representations of international organisations. Among the gathered were children of the Palace «Döwletliler köşgi», schoolchildren of the School for training of young Olympians and comprehensive schools, members of the national cycling team, student's youth, representatives of the public.
All with great enthusiasm welcome President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Workers of culture and art perform the song and musical compositions, which glorify principles of healthy way of life and achievement of our land.
The head of the state gives a start for the mass bicycle ride and the column of its participants begins movement by the route running through Chandibil and Bitarap Turkmenistan avenues of the capital.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov marks, World Bicycle Day takes a special place in the national calendar as a celebration of high ideals of friendship and peace, sports and humanism for the sake of unity and coherence of our society. For this reason, this international holiday is widely and with great enthusiasm is marked in our country. Bicycle rides - one of the most popular forms of socially significant actions in the world held to support various social, sports and ecological projects and ideas. The regular organisation of similar actions promotes not only increase in number of adherents of sports, but also advancement of principles of the healthy way of life in society.
Advantage of practice of cycling is conditioned with both its positive influence on the human organism and availability to people of all age groups. Besides it, the advantage of riding a bicycle consists in increase of general human activity. At the same time, bicycle rides are an excellent way of interesting health improving leisure and cultural recreation.
Regular practice of physical culture and sports play an essential role in harmonious, physical and spiritual development of the younger generation and its active involvement in mass sports movement promotes its high-grade social adaptation.
At the same time, in Turkmenistan a huge significance is given to the strengthening of health of young citizens, especially those who needs the state support. In this aspect, it is necessary to point out the large-scale activity of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship founded at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
As known, on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, children of the «Döwletliler köşgi», who at present enjoy their holidays in the children's recreation centre "Chynar" in Gökdere, on behalf of Hero-Arkadag and the Charitable Foundation bicycles were presented. It once again attested to the care shown at the state level of the growing generation for their all-around development, including maintenance of possibilities for their active participation in mass physical training and health improving and sports movement.
Today, children of the Palace «Döwletliler köşgi» with their bicycles presented on behalf of Hero-Arkadag, following the example of the President of Turkmenistan, with enthusiasm took part in the bicycle ride. It once again testified to the fact that the care of the younger generation is in the centre of attention of the state.
At present, when the humanity directly faces such global problem as climate change, transition to non-polluting forms of transport, is defined as one of the priority goals. In this connection, the bicycle is one of the most effective and accessible types of transport, possessing a number of side benefits.
After all, the bicycle is not only means of transportation, but also a symbol of steady and harmless way of life. Its use on a constant basis gives the chance to reduce negative influence of the environment.
In the light of universal ecological challenges, use of bicycle as means of transportation is an important step on the way to creation of the clean, safe and healthy future for all.
Mass bicycle rides, attracting the attention to ecology issues, inspire people to choose this practical and convenient type of transport.
Turkmenistan considers ecological well-being as an integral factor of sustainable development. Consistently and globally promoting constructive initiatives in this area, and ecological diplomacy, our country adopts effective measures for their realisation. The proposal of Turkmenistan on creation of the steady ecological environment in regional and global dimensions also receive the international recognition. Our country brings an essential contribution to the solution of issues of ecological and climatic challenges at national, regional and international levels.
At the same time, having joined tens of nature protection conventions, agreements and contracts, Turkmenistan in practice confirms adherence to the general efforts in the field of preservation of the environment. Initiatives of our country to improve ecological conditions in the region and the world, to counteract negative consequences of climate change also testify clearly to the fact.
… In the meantime, the column of participants of the bicycle ride, led by the head of the state, continued movement along broad avenues of Ashgabat. The picturesque landscape of foothills of the Kopet Dagh and a magnificent panorama of the white marble-coated Turkmen capital inspire and give inflow of forces.
Ashgabat city by right is recognised by a pearl of Asia. The large-scale civil work developed in its territory also clearly attests to the result of socially focused state policy initiated by Hero-Arkadag and successfully implemented today under the far-sighted leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The Turkmen capital is a model of dynamically developing city of the future. The beauty, and comfort embodied in its shape, advanced architectural and technical solutions are organically combined with traditions of national architecture.
As to the national sphere of public health services, its activity is improved on a regular basis. It grows out of systematic successful realisation of the Government program «Saglyk», developed at the initiative of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Its key purposes define public health care, increase in life expectancy of people and maintenance of all-around development of society. The public health is not only assets of the country, but also a primary factor of the bright future of the present and future generations.
President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov also attaches a great importance to the development of the Olympic movement in our fatherland. Sports diplomacy - one of the dynamically developing areas of the foreign policy activity of Turkmenistan, which is aimed at consolidation of peaceful, friendly and brotherly relations between countries and people. Having fully covered the distance of the bicycle ride, the President of Turkmenistan reached the finish line at the final point - capital Rukhyet Palace.
There, participants of the sports and ecological action underlined the importance of the Resolution on announcement of June 3 as World Bicycle Day adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the initiative of Turkmenistan and taking an opportunity, warmly congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag on this annually marked significant date.
Having congratulated participants of the mass bicycle ride on the international sports holiday, the head of the state warmly said goodbye to everyone and wished health and successes.
Thus, the present bicycle ride became one more symbolical expression of unity and coherence of our society, its adherence to principles of the healthy way of life and eternal humane values.
