A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the International competition of scientific and design works «The role of youth in achieving the goals of sustainable development», dedicated to World environment day and the 35th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan, was held at the Turkmen agricultural university named after S.A.Nyyazov.

The competition, which began in May of this year, received approximately 150 scientific papers from university students in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China, Türkiye, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Romania.

By decision of the expert commission, 45 of the most promising scientific projects took part in the second final stage, held from the 1st to 5th of June.

Scientific papers were evaluated according to the following criteria: relevance; innovation and scientific quality; consistency in description; accuracy and clarity of presentation; feasibility and cost of implementation; quality of preparation and completeness.

Based on the results of the competition, the authors of 28 research projects were declared winners, 20 of which were prepared by Turkmen students and 8 by foreign students. The authors of the 5 best projects were awarded first place. 9 student projects received second place, and 14 works received third place. Another 14 authors were awarded special incentive prizes.

The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees and gifts from the TAU named after S.A.Nyyazov.

As part of the awards ceremony, a special exhibition was held at the Cultural centre of the university clearly demonstrating the work being done in our country to protect biodiversity and preserve the environment. The event continued with a festive concert prepared by the amateur art group of the university.

The international competition, held by the university for the fourth year in a row with the support of the national ministries of education, agriculture, and environmental protection, aims to strengthen international scientific and educational cooperation, stimulate the creative abilities of young people, and evaluate the role and activities of young scientists in the context of implementing the SDGs.

The competition helps identify and support talented young people, exchange cutting-edge scientific experience between young scientists, knowledge of deepen students in the areas of food security, environmental protection, sustainable use of natural resources, and foster environmental awareness among young people.
