The scientific potential of youth is the prosperous future of the Fatherland

Today, the University of engineering and technology named after Oguz han held an awards ceremony for the winners of the annual scientific paper competition among young people of Turkmenistan. The organisers of the prestigious competition are the Academy of sciences of Turkmenistan and the Central council of the youth organisation named after Magtymguly.

Members of the Government, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of the scientific community, university faculty, and students took part in the ceremony honouring the rising luminaries of Russian science.

The audience listened with great enthusiasm to the address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed to the competition winners. The message of the head of state emphasises that science is a powerful driving force for the progress of the state. The dynamic development of our country largely depends on young citizens with fundamental scientific knowledge and their effective work. Young scientists, driven by clear goals and firm principles, are achieving great success and making discoveries in priority scientific areas, opening new horizons for the further development and prosperity of our country.

As the President noted in his Address, scientific research is currently underway at research institutes, higher education institutions, the Centre for young scientists at the Academy of sciences of Turkmenistan, and the Central council of the youth organisation named after Magtymguly, where young scientists, engineers, technologists, and specialists are making scientific discoveries. Overall, the results of their work contribute to solving key problems in the socio-economic development of the country, which is a source of pride for us.

In the modern epoch, our country has developed a cutting-edge, robust scientific foundation that incorporates the latest trends in global scientific and technological progress and the unique developments of our cutting-edge scientists. Considering that scientific potential is the main vector of a nation's development, reflects the authority of the country on the global stage, and also forms the basis of its power and progress, special importance is attached to the training of highly qualified young specialists and scientists, improving their educational level and horizons, and developing science and intellectual potential.

The favourable conditions created contribute to the growing interest of Turkmen youth in new scientific discoveries and, in general, in research work that determines technical progress. In the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses», more than 1500 young scientists and students took part in the scientific competition. They presented their developments, scientific methods and research in six key areas of science and technology, in particular, nanotechnology, chemical technology, the study of new materials and energy; biotechnology, molecular biology, agriculture, ecology and genetics; information and communication systems, computer technology; modern medical technologies and drug production; innovative economics; and the humanities. The fundamental reforms being implemented today in these areas are aimed, first and foremost, at ensuring strategic national interests and achieving new levels of socio-economic development.

From all the competition entries, the competent jury selected the works of 170 young scientists. Representatives of the youth scientific research movement, recognised as the winners of the competition, became the main characters of the big celebration that took place today. To thunderous applause from those present, they were presented with honorary diplomas and valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

The awards ceremony for young scientists was not only a high assessment and recognition of their talent by the state, but also evidence of the enormous attention paid in the country to the development of science and the involvement of young people in active research activities.

The intellectual competition winners expressed their sincere gratitude to the head of state, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, for his utmost care for the younger generation and assured that their tireless work will serve to enhance the authority and glory of their homeland. At the end of the ceremony, its participants adopted a thank-you address to the President of Turkmenistan.

The ceremony concluded with a festive concert featuring artists and creative groups from the universities of the country.
