Ambassador of RF Ivan Volynkin: Neutral status of Ashgabat is a factor in ensuring global stability and geopolitical balance

Moscow deeply respects neutral status of Turkmenistan and maintains an intensive political dialogue with Ashgabat on key issues. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin announced this at a gala reception on the occasion of Russia Day.

«Russian-Turkmen relations have always been a benchmark example of building relations between two sovereign states. Our countries maintain an intensive political dialogue and regular exchange of views on a wide range of issues on the international agenda. Moscow has great respect for neutral status of Ashgabat, which serves as a factor in ensuring global stability and geopolitical balance in the region», – the diplomat emphasised.

The head of the diplomatic mission also noted the symbolism of the fact that the CIS is celebrating its 35th anniversary in the year of chairmanship of Turkmenistan, which is successfully fulfilling this important mission and is similarly celebrating its most significant holiday – the 35th anniversary of state independence.

«One of the most important events of the Commonwealth, the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries, took place in Ashgabat just recently. The event was attended by the Chairman of Government of the RF, Mihail Mishustin, who was received on the same day by the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The CIS heads of state summit is just around the corner – it will take place in October on hospitable Turkmen soil with the participation of the President of RF Vladimir Putin», – I. Volynkin reminded.

The Ambassador placed particular emphasis on the fact that a deepened strategic partnership fully meets the fundamental interests of both countries. It is directly aimed at ensuring prosperity, stability and security throughout Central Asia and the Caspian region.
