President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay a state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The issue of preparations for the upcoming trip was discussed during the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which was held digitally.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov delivered a report on the progress of organisational work.

In his report, the head of MFA emphasised that Azerbaijan is one of the strategic partners of Turkmenistan, with whom cooperation is based on the principles of good-neighbourliness and mutual benefit. A constant increase in the volume of foreign trade turnover is recorded. The Joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation plays a leading role in this process. Countries effectively coordinate their actions within the UN and other authoritative organisations, supporting global initiatives of each other.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to deepening dialogue with the friendly state and addressed a number of specific instructions to the deputy-prime and minister of foreign affairs to ensure the high-quality organisation of the upcoming state visit.
