Turkmenistan is represented at the CDIO 2026 International Conference in Liverpool

A delegation from the Engineering and technology university of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han is taking part in the 22nd International Conference CDIO 2026, which is being held from 22nd to 25th of June at the University of Liverpool, UK.

The delegation includes Islam Orazov, senior lecturer at the department of cyber-physical systems, and Ahal Akgayev, director of the «Oguz han» Scientific and Technological centre at the Turkmen university.

This year, a major international forum brought together 157 representatives from 71 universities in 27 countries. Participants include teachers, researchers, scientists, specialists, and students, whose meeting is aimed at exchanging best practices in engineering education, innovative teaching methods, scientific research, and the training of highly qualified engineering personnel.

The CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) initiative is an international collaboration platform aimed at developing an innovative system of engineering education. Its main goal is to develop practical engineering skills in students through a full cycle of «planning, designing, implementing and operating» real systems, projects and products. The initiative brings together leading higher education institutions worldwide.

CDIO conferences, with the participation of its partners, are important platforms for promoting best international practices in engineering education, modern approaches to teaching, and the development of international academic dialogue.

The main theme of the international conference CDIO 2026 is «Advancing student professional development: innovations in assessment and feedback». Based on the theme, the issues discussed at the forum focus on developing professional competencies of students in engineering education, implementing modern knowledge assessment methods, and improving the effectiveness of feedback systems.

At the international forum, representatives from various countries jointly considered priority tasks for further improving engineering education, implementing digital technologies, project-based teaching methods, and a range of other innovative educational solutions.

During the conference, representatives of the Engineering and technology university of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han will present reports presenting the scientific activities of the university, research in the field of cyber-physical systems, modern technologies, and experience in developing engineering education. In addition, they actively participate in group sessions with representatives of the wider CDIO academic network.

The participation of Turkmen delegates in this international conference is an important step toward improving educational programs of the university in line with international standards, developing project-based learning, and expanding international academic interaction.

It should be noted that in March 2023, the Engineering and technology university of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han became the first university in Central Asia to be accepted as a full member of the CDIO organisation. As part of this collaboration, the university actively participates in various international scientific, practical, and educational events organized by CDIO, successfully continuing its fruitful work on introducing innovative approaches to engineering education.
