Turkmenistan to Propose the Establishment of the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue at the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via the digital system, during which current issues of state life were discussed. During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the country's priority positions for the upcoming 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Environmental security, climate change, and the rational use of energy resources remain among the key areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies.

In this regard, Turkmenistan will propose the establishment of the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue—a new multilateral platform for promoting climate initiatives and developing institutional international partnership.

In addition, the country will put forward an initiative aimed at strengthening the climate resilience of regions facing challenges caused by drought and water scarcity.
