Turkmenistan’s U23 men’s and women’s 3x3 basketball teams began their campaign at the prestigious international FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League 2026 in Singapore with convincing victories. In their opening matches of the first stage of the competition, the Turkmen players defeated their counterparts from Qatar. The men’s team won 15–9, while the women’s team secured a commanding 21–6 victory.
Both matches were played in Group B, which also features the Australian national team. Meanwhile, Group A consists of teams from Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. All of these teams are competing in the same Asia West/Pacific Conference.
Turkmenistan has sent its strongest young basketball players to Singapore to represent the country. The men’s team, coached by head coach Yevgeny Nazipov, consists of Dovlet Narmyradov, Bayramdurdy Geldiyev, Roman Seleznyov, Baky Gurbanov, and Alijan Bekchanov. The women’s team is led by head coach Mahrijemal Jumageldiyeva, with Jennet Hajymammedova, Ranajan Yakubova, Maria Salmina, Farangiz Saidova, and Maral Merdanova taking to the court.
The international tournament in Singapore will continue until August 26. There is a major prize at stake: the winner of the Asia West/Pacific Conference will earn a direct berth at the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup, which will be held from September 15 to 19 in China’s Hubei Province.
