Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Netherlands held in the Hague

On 3 September 2026, a meeting was held in the Hague between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Tom Berendsen. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan. 

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the progressive development of Turkmen-Dutch relations and reaffirmed their interest in further expanding cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In this context, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda. The Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of permanent neutrality, the Charter of the United Nations, as well as political and diplomatic methods for resolving international issues.

As part of the discussion of the trade and economic agenda, the sides considered prospects for intensifying business ties and cooperation in such areas as transport and logistics, port infrastructure, agriculture and modern agricultural technologies, energy, high technologies and industrial cooperation. The sides emphasized their interest in expanding direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of education and the training of diplomatic personnel, including the long-standing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Netherlands Institute of International Relations “Clingendael”.

The sides also discussed the upcoming World Beauty Championship of Ahal-Teke horses and international equestrian competitions to be held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Dutch side welcomed the organization of such a large-scale international event in the country, dedicated to Ahal-Teke horses and the rich traditions of Turkmen horse breeding.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual readiness to continue regular dialogue and joint efforts aimed at further strengthening the multifaceted relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
