On 9 September 2026, an event was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania dedicated to the upcoming successive meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the proclamation of 2028 as the Year of International Law. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by Turkmen students and citizens of Turkmenistan residing in Romania.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Romania Annamammet Annayev highlighted the importance of the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, to be held on 23 September 2026, in reviewing the country’s development achievements during the years of independence and defining new priorities for domestic and foreign policy.

Particular attention was paid to the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to proclaim 2028 as the Year of International Law. It was noted that the relevant resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted on 24 July 2026 with the co-sponsorship of 78 states, reflects the contribution of Turkmenistan to strengthening international law, peace and trust.

As part of the event, a presentation dedicated to the Akhal-Teke horse, the symbol of 2026, was held. An exhibition of books by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov devoted to neutrality, peacemaking, historical and cultural heritage, and development of Turkmenistan, was also organized.
