Rice harvesting is gaining momentum in Dashoguz velayat. Its main producers in the region are the dayhan associations «S.A. Nyýazow» and «27-nji oktýabr» of the S. Turkmenbashy etrap. A local private structure, the «Ykbal açary» Economic society, is also taking an increasingly active part in rice production, having grown the crop on 800 hectares this year.

Thanks to the level of organisation and the meticulous preparation that preceded the harvest, rice was harvested from over six hundred hectares in the first few days of the important campaign. The harvest effectively utilizes a large number of modern, high-performance combine harvesters and a sufficient amount of equipment necessary for grain transportation.

The basis of the current harvest is the «Nöküs-2» rice variety, which has proven itself in local weather and climate conditions and is distinguished by its high yield, resistance to diseases, lodging, and shattering. Due to its good taste, it is one of the most popular varieties among consumers.

Dashoguz velayat is one of the largest rice producers in the country. Thanks to the conditions created by the state, a full production cycle for the cultivation and deep processing of crops has been established in the region today; a high-tech rice cleaning plant has been built near the granaries on the territory of the S. Turkmenbashy etrap.

Farmers in the velayat intend to harvest at least 35 thousand tons of rice from their fields within a reasonable timeframe during the harvest season.
