These days, farmers in the Balkan velayat are actively sowing winter wheat on agricultural lands along the Garagum River, laying a solid foundation for the 2027 harvest. The work is being carried out in strict accordance with agronomic requirements, drawing on centuries-old farming traditions and advanced agricultural practices.
In previous years, grain growers in the Balkan velayat achieved abundant harvests, making a significant contribution to ensuring food abundance in the country. They were among the first to successfully fulfill their contractual obligations for the procurement of food grain in the year proclaimed “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” which also marks the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the country’s sacred independence.
During the current autumn season, hardworking farmers are sowing high-yielding wheat varieties adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the country’s western region and are achieving considerable success. During this crucial period, tenants and landowners working with daikhan associations and farms across the etraps are demonstrating high productivity. Alongside sowing, comprehensive work is being carried out to irrigate growing crops and care for areas that have already been planted.
Machine operators and engineering and technical personnel from the Balkanobahyzmat Production Association and its etrap-level enterprises are making a substantial contribution to the sowing campaign. Of the 50,000 hectares planned for the velayat as a whole, more than 78% have already been sown in compliance with agronomic standards. Farmers in the etraps of Magtymguly and Esenguly, as well as in the Gyzylarbat etrap, are demonstrating the highest performance and setting an exemplary standard in this important work.
As the campaign enters its final stage, an extensive fleet of powerful tractors of various makes is operating in a coordinated and uninterrupted manner. Specially established maintenance teams work around the clock in several shifts. These mobile teams, comprising repair technicians, welders, and mechanics, respond promptly to ensure the uninterrupted progress of all field operations.
The current pace of winter wheat sowing in the country’s western region indicates that the campaign will soon be completed, laying a strong foundation for the future harvest. This inspires confidence that the farmers’ important goal of harvesting 80,000 tonnes of wheat across the velayat in the coming year, 2027, will be successfully achieved.
