School Holidays: Meaningful and Cultural Recreation for the Younger Generation

These days, autumn holidays are continuing at general education schools across the velayats of the country, as well as in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag. For this period, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan has developed a special programme under which students take part in various competitions, visit museums and concert venues, and make effective use of every opportunity to enjoy a fulfilling and culturally enriching holiday.

At present, thanks to the successful implementation, under the wise leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, of large-scale reforms initiated by Hero-Arkadag in the national education system, a high standard and effectiveness of education and upbringing for the younger generation are being ensured.

In this regard, creative and intellectual competitions are being organised at general education schools during the holidays. Students actively participate in literary contests, including “Altyn asyryň altyn zehinleriz”(“Golden Talents of the Golden Age”), as well as in international subject-based and project Olympiads, achieving outstanding results. This serves as clear evidence of the state’s comprehensive commitment to the intellectual development of young people.

Sports competitions among schoolchildren, filled with exciting and memorable moments, are also attracting considerable interest. These events play an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging the younger generation to embrace it. Divided into teams, the children enthusiastically compete in various sports.

In addition, poetry evenings are organised for young literature enthusiasts. Students recite their favourite literary works and poems of their own composition, while becoming acquainted with one another’s creative efforts. The wide-ranging and inclusive nature of these events creates excellent opportunities for schoolchildren to discover and develop their creative potential.

As part of the cultural programme for the autumn holidays, themed excursions are organised for students. During visits to city libraries, they listen with great interest to specialists’ accounts of the rich world of books. Library staff provide comprehensive answers to the children’s questions and help them identify their literary preferences.

Schoolchildren also visit museums of decorative and applied arts, where they learn about the history, traditions, and everyday life of the Turkmen people in different historical periods. The exhibits arouse particular excitement among the students. Museum experts provide detailed explanations of the history of the displayed artifacts, their distinctive features, and the traditional way of life of their ancestors.

Modern exhibitions reflecting the achievements and successes of our Motherland also attract the attention of schoolchildren. The activities being held not only add to the chronicle of events marking the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses”, but also give children unforgettable experiences. All these initiatives serve as compelling evidence of the state’s continued attention to and care for the organisation of interesting, beneficial, and meaningful leisure activities for students.
