Conservation and augmentation of natural resources, complex study and wide popularization in the world of natural sights is one of major priorities of the state policy. Decision of the nation leader on creation of new State Nature Reserve Bereketli Garagum became a regular important step in this direction.
Creation of “Bereketli Garagum” State Nature Reserve will contribute to the protection of model zones of all types of desert landscape with its flora and fauna. As it was informed, strictly protected natural zone of new nature reserve located in the north of Akhal province occupies 62 thousand hectares of territory. Its total area is 87 800 hectares, including 25 hectares of wildlife preserve. According to data of scientists- ecologists, over 1000 kinds of representatives of fauna, including 20 species of mammals, 150-birds, 15 – reptiles and others are met here and 293 kinds of flora, including 210 varieties of plants grow there.
16 zoological, 3 botanic, several hydrological and one landscape monuments of nature as well as traditional forms of natural resources are taken into account in ecological and economic substantiation of the nature reserve.
