President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva, Vice Premiers H. Muhammedov, S. Toilyev, B. Nurmyradova, Sh. Durdylyev and Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov.
The issues relating to the preparations for the international event - the Road Safety Month, which will be held throughout the country on September 1-30, were discussed during the meeting.
The high-ranking officials reported to the President on the preparatory work carried out in the sectors under supervision to ensure the high level of organization of the nationwide campaign under the motto "Road Safety - Security of Our Lives". Those present reported to the Turkmen leader on the programme of the mass bicycle marathon that the Road Safety Month would begin with. In particular, they reported on the measures taken to ensure the traffic safety during the marathon and provide participants with sport equipment and outfit.
Commenting on the reports, the President noted that the important sporting event would contribute to promoting a healthy lifestyle in the country and focused on the importance of taking a responsible approach to ensure the high level of organization of these activities.
Addressing Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that given the scale and significance of these activities deputies of the Mejlis should be involved in the organization and conducting of the large-scale action scheduled for the following week so that as many citizens as possible would participate in the bicycle marathon. Noting that promoting and awareness raising activities should be held to better organize the important sporting action and involve more participants, the Turkmen leader emphasized that these activities should be held in the capital and regions of the country.
The President instructed Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov to ensure the safety of participants of the bicycle marathon, train instructors and monitor the functionality of the routes along which participants of the bicycle marathon would ride.
The Turkmen leader gave Vice Premier H. Muhammedov specific instructions on the organization of the nationwide action, including the provision of reliable and comfortable bicycles and sportswear and the sale of water and drinks on the marathon routes.
Vice Premier S. Toilyev was instructed to hold activities among university students, train qualified instructors and monitor the activities of the State Committee for Sport that would coordinate efforts to organize and hold the important sporting action and the institutions of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry where doctors should be on duty on that day.
Addressing Vice Premier B. Nurmyradova, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized once again the importance of providing the information support of the Road Safety Month and carrying out the ideological work to promote a healthy lifestyle and sports, including bicycling, in the society.
Focusing on the importance of ensuring the safety of participants of the nationwide bicycle marathon, the President instructed Vice Premier Sh. Durdylyev to examine the condition of the roadway of the routes, the quality of which should correspond to the high level of the event. The Vice Premier was instructed to ensure the quality of three routes - amateur sportsmen and adherents of a healthy lifestyle would ride along two of them and professional sportsmen would ride along the third route.
