President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers with participation of the Mejlis deputies, heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, a number of ministries and core departments, journalists, Khyakims of Mary Velayat and Ashgabat, rectors of the institutions of higher education. The meeting agenda focused on the priority issues of the state policy life and drafts of some documents.
The Vice Premiers reported on the preparations for the state visit of the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to Turkmenistan on September 3-4. A number of bilateral documents will be signed and the ceremony of opening of the complex of objects in the Galkynysh gas deposit will be held within the framework of the forthcoming visit. It was also reported on the preparations for the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Japan scheduled for September 11-13.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the preparations for putting the objects in the Galkynysh gas deposit into operation. It was noted that the construction of the plant for preparation of commercial gas and the complex of other industrial facilities had been completed.
It was also reported on the preparations for the architectural premiers in Mary Velayat on September5.
The Mejlis deputies reported on the outcomes of the 21st session of the national Parliament. Within the framework of the session, the Turkmen deputies considered and adopted a number of drafts of the Laws of Turkmenistan and the resolutions of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. It was reported on the programme of the visits of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Islamic Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan at the beginning of September.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the preparations for the beginning of the new academic year. It was reported that 1,760 secondary schools, 927 kindergartens, 37 secondary and 64 primary vocational colleges as well as 23 institutions of higher education work in our country. It is expected that 967,500 pupils will study in secondary schools in the 2013-2014 academic year, of them 193,200 will go to schools for the first time. Netbooks with preinstalled educational and cognitive programmes will be presented to all first-formers.
A total of 6,100 young people are admitted to the institutions of higher education in the 2013-2014 academic year. 6,522 young people on average are admitted to vocational schools in the new academic year. 30,000 students are admitted to primary vocational schools. The ceremonies of opening of seven new secondary schools built in various regions of our country will take place on September 2.
The President of Turkmenistan appointed R. Charyev as Director of the Turkmenistan TV channel relieving him of the post of the Chairman of the State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.

The Turkmen leader emphasized that the main goal of the education reform was to provide the young generation of the Turkmen citizens with the opportunity to receive high-quality education in compliance with the international standards.
