President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Head of Itera International Group of Companies, President of the RF Cycling Federation Igor Makarov and General Manager of World Tour Katusha Team, a three-time Olympic champion and multiple world champion Vyacheslav Ekimov, who had arrived in Ashgabat together with a group of renowned Russian athletes - winners of the international cycling tournaments.
Greeting the Turkmen leader, the guests expressed gratitude for an opportunity to participate in a large-scale sport action – the mass bicycle ride, which will take place in the Turkmen capital in the framework of the Road Safety Month on September 1. Igor Makarov noted in particular that he arrived with great enthusiasm in Ashgabat, which’s rapidly changing its look, becoming one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
It was noted that the Russian delegation that had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the sport action consisted of the champions of the Olympic Games and other prestigious competitions and world record holders, many of whom had grown up in Turkmenistan and were proud of the outstanding achievements of their historic homeland.
An exchange of views on the prospects of sport cooperation and possible projects in this sector took place during the meeting.
