President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Honorary Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Mr. Martin Marmi.
During the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged their views on a wide spectrum of issues, including the prospects for cooperation in the framework of the international projects aimed at creating a modern transport and communication infrastructure of the regional and transcontinental significance in Turkmenistan.
It was noted that the favourable geographic location creates all necessary conditions so that Turkmenistan will become the important transit and transport centre on the Eurasian continent. The large-scale programmes on development of all types of the transport communication are implemented, new highways and modern railways are laid in the country, the international seaport is under construction in the city of Turkmenbashi and new air routes are established in our country to use all these opportunities.
