President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Japan on an official visit today.
The motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan headed from Haneda Airport to his residence at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo.
In the afternoon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived at the office of the Prime Minister of Japan, where head of the Japanese Government Shinzo Abe cordially greeted the distinguished guest.
The Prime Minister of Japan and the President of Turkmenistan had a photograph taken against the background of national flags of the two countries. Then the government delegations of Turkmenistan and Japan held bilateral talks in the conference hall.
The intergovernmental talks highlighted mutual readiness for full cooperation. The ceremony of signing the bilateral documents took place in the meeting hall. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe put their signatures to the Joint Declaration between Turkmenistan and Japan on new partnership to the applause of those present.
The Agreement on Technical Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Japan, the Programme of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for 2013-2014, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Development and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmengaz State Concern and the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation were signed.

Addressing journalists, Mr. Shinzo Abe expressed satisfaction with the high level of Turkmen-Japanese relations. Focusing on the specific character of the talks in Tokyo, the Japanese Prime Minister emphasized that these talks were a convincing and productive reflection of dynamically developing Turkmen-Japanese relations by their content and atmosphere.
Addressing journalists, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the talks confirmed mutual willingness of Turkmenistan and Japan to contribute to strengthening peace and stability and the climate of trust and understanding in Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The Turkmen leader said the talks testified to mutual readiness to provide assistance and full support to the development of all forms of trade, economic and investment cooperation.

An official dinner was given in honour of the Turkmen guest on behalf of the Prime Minister in the evening.
