President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the Chairperson of the Mejlis, the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat and the heads of ministries and departments. The agenda focused on the important domestic policy issues particularly related to the agricultural campaigns, the construction projects and the implementation of the ambitious programmes of reforms launched throughout the country.
The reports particularly focused on the progress in seasonal agricultural activities and the measures taken to hold the winter crop sowing campaign in a proper and timely manner, speed up the cotton campaign, ensure the effective use of agricultural machines and equipment and apply defoliants in cotton fields. The report on the preparations for the rice campaign was presented.
The Turkmen leader was informed of final preparations for a meeting of the Elders’ Council of Turkmenistan.
The report on the measures taken to further modernize and improve urban infrastructure in Ashgabat focused on the progress in implementing a number of construction projects.
The information on the measures taken to further optimize the activities of institutions of the financial and economic bloc and the banking sector and tax and statistical agencies and the work carried out in the transport and communications sectors was presented.
The report on the activities of the Parliament particularly focused on the preparation of the programme of cultural events, which would be held throughout the country to mark the 22th anniversary of Turkmenistan independence.
The report on the results of inspection conducted in a number of sectors by the Supreme Chamber of Inspection on the instructions of the President was presented.
The layouts and projects of new facilities, including underground crossings, motor roads and bridges and apartment houses to be built in Ashgabat and the regions of the country, were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
Noting that the winter crop sowing campaign in some regions of the country was behind schedule, the President also focused on the low pace of the cotton campaign as compared to the same period of 2012. In this regard, the Turkmen leader demanded that the necessary measures should be taken to increase the pace of agricultural works, taking advantage of favourable weather conditions.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov blessed the rice campaign that would start in Dashoguz Velayat on September 21 and Lebap Velayat on October 5. Focusing on the need to effectively monitor the implementation of the construction projects in Lebap Velayat, the President instructed to speed up the construction of a children’s recreation and entertainment centre in the region.
The Turkmen leader considered the construction projects and provided a number of comments and recommendations on them. Also, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the conditions created for drivers and pedestrians in city streets and underway crossings should ensure road safety and consistent traffic. The Turkmen leader instructed to take a responsible approach to construction of motor roads in the new districts of Ashgabat, which would unload traffic in the main city streets and ensure consistent traffic.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the videoconference.
