President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Ahal Velayat, where the Turkmen leader visited a granary in Derveze Etrap and a cotton procurement station in Geokdepe Etrap. The aim of the trip was to see the conditions of storage of threshed grain and the measures taken to develop the seed sector, supply high quality material for the sowing campaign and deliver raw cotton in compliance with modern standards.

The granary occupies a total area of 12,500 square metres. 1,700 tons of high quality seeds have been delivered to the granary for processing and storage this year. Currently, 500 tons of grain is stored at the storehouses and 200 tons of wheat – on an outdoor platform.
The Turkmen leader visited the granary to see its material and technical resources, working environment and operating conditions. To increase the production of various kinds of agricultural products and ensure an abundance of food products on the domestic market are the priority tasks set by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the domestic agro-industrial sector that is to contribute to enhancing the economic strength of Turkmenistan and improving the welfare of the people.
The significant progress has been made in the sector in recent years thanks to the drastic reforms, the modernization of the legal framework, promotion of new economic relations in rural areas and adoption of the advanced management methods and financial and economic mechanisms for production management. At the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan farmers associations and tenant farmers are provided with necessary equipment, including agricultural machines, fertilizers and high quality seeds. Modern industrial facilities that contribute to the effective development of the seed sector operate throughout the country. Grain elevators supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and computer-aided control systems are built in the regions of the country.
Turkmenistan that first exported grain in 2011 reached important milestone in its history. The construction of modern grain elevators, flour milling plants and processing enterprises was launched at the initiative of the leader of Turkmenistan in all the regions of the country. This work is a key approach to the implementation of the National Agricultural Sector Development Programme of Turkmenistan for 2012-2016. Consistent measures are taken in the country to boost wheat production and increase grain production, the final stage of which is postharvest treatment, including cleaning and drying. It is one of the most time-consuming processes. Therefore, the important tasks are set to Turkmen seed growers, who are to ensure proper storage of threshed grain and its resistance to the impact of various factors. During the working trips to the regions and the meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers and working meetings President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov draws attention of the high-ranking officials to the issues relating to the storage of grain, which is grown thanks to selfless labour of Turkmen agricultural workers. The Turkmen leader focuses on the need to take a well thought-out and efficient approach to manage and carry out agricultural works in strict compliance with requirements and science-based recommendations. Noting that the quality of work at the granary in Derveze Etrap did not comply with requirements, the President emphasized the need to take appropriate organizational measures to make it more effective. The President visited the packaging shop from where seed were sent to the fields. The Turkmen leader noted that the measures taken should comply with agro- technical standards which would increase operational efficiency. Emphasizing that the granaries in the country should meet modern standards and be supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, the Turkmen leader demanded that the high-ranking officials should take proper measures to build modern granaries. “A priority task set to the sector is to ensure that granaries in the regions of the country will meet the highest standards,” the Turkmen leader said.
Focusing on the need to properly process wheat yields, store seeds in compliance with modern standards and sow seeds in compliance with agro-technical requirements, the Turkmen leader demanded that the high-ranking officials should take strict control of this work.
The Turkmen leader also demanded that the high-ranking officials should take immediate measures to improve the territory adjacent to the granary in Geokdepe Etrap. The Turkmen leader visited it to see the progress of work, the condition of storage of ‘white gold’ and the measures taken to increase operational efficiency of the facility where 35 specialists work.
The Government takes consistent measures to provide tenant farmers with water, equipment, seeds and fertilizer, improve the legal framework and strengthen the material and technical basis of the sector, which contributes to achieving performance targets. In this context, effective management of all the sectors of the industry, from sowing to production, is an essential factor for promoting the agro-industrial sector.
Noting that the storage and processing of ‘white gold’, which is grown by diligent tenant farmers, must fully comply with modern requirements, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to pay close attention to maintaining adequate sanitary conditions in the storage facility.
