President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at the international airport in Turkmenbashi town before leaving for the capital.
Priority issues of the state policy and draft documents were put on the agenda of the meeting. The Vice Premiers presented the reports.
The reports spotlighted the measures taken to effectively monitor the proper use of financial resources by the ministries and departments, their subordinate organisations and enterprises and local governments. The information on the preparations for commissioning of the Berkarar recreational centre in the Avaz national tourism zone was presented during the meeting.
The report on the measures taken to enhance cooperation with the international financial institutions, including the World Bank, was presented. A delegation led by the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia is expected to be visiting Turkmenistan from September 29 to October 3 this year.
The detailed report on the programme of the events, including international social and political events, science conferences, cultural and sports actions and the celebrations in honour of the 22nd anniversary of independence to take place in October, was presented. Exhibitions, concerts and theatrical performances will be held to mark the national holiday.
The Memorial Day has a special place among the remarkable dates in the national calendar. The ceremonies in commemoration of the Ashgabat earthquake victims will be held on that day.
The cultural events to take place in early October include the final round of the Yanlan, Diyarym! contest of amateur singers that is organized in the framework of the national art contest Turkmenin Altyn Asyry.
The venue for the festivities will be the Avaza national tourism zone where the opening ceremonies of new facilities and the ceremonies of awarding prizes and diplomas to laureates of the Turkmenin Altyn Asyry contest and conferring honorary titles and awards to workers of culture and arts will take place on October 8.
Particular attention was paid to the preparations for a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council, which would be held in Dashoguz, the opening of the Bagt Kosgi Palace, the ceremony of awarding government awards and conferring honorary titles to specialists of various sectors of the national economy in honour of the 22nd anniversary of independence and other events.
The XVI Conference of the Humanitarian Association of the World Turkmen will be held on October 24. The festivities, including the bright performance on the arena of the Ashgabat Stadium, will be held in the capital on October 26.
The apotheosis of the Independence Day celebration on October 27 will be the parade, which will take place on the main square of the country, and the festivities at the cultural and entertainment centres. The horse races will be held at the International Equestrian Sports Centre on October 28. Concerts and performances to the glory of Independence will be organized at the cinema and concert centres and the Ylham Park in Ashgabat and all the regions of the country.
It was reported that on the Turkmen leader’s instructions the proposals of the foreign partners on the management of the Yyldyz Hotel had been considered. The construction of the hotel is to be completed in the near future.

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolutions on the construction of a railroad overpass at the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and the construction of the complex of buildings and facilities in the Olympic Village in Ashgabat, the Resolution authorising the Turkmenmasyngurlusyk State Concern of the Ministry of Industry to be a founder of the Bagtyyar dowvur Closed Joint Stock Company and the Order on the hajj of Turkmen pilgrims.
Taking into account the multidimensional nature of climate change issues, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan had put forward the initiative to establish jointly with the United Nations the Regional Centre for Climate Change Technology in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea Basin in Ashgabat.
