A meeting of the State Security Council

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in nine months of the current year were considered and the priority measures to be taken to fulfil the designated tasks were identified.

Before discussing the agenda items, the President informed of his decision to relieve A. Garaev from the post of Chief of the State Border Service due to the transfer to another job and appoint M. Yslamov Chief of the State Border Service and relieved him from the post of Vice Rector for educational activity of the Border Institute.

Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of National Security Ya. Berdiev reported on the consistent and task-oriented measures taken by the Ministry of National Security to uphold national interests and maintain the social climate in the country.

Minister of Defence B. Gundogdyev reported on the progress in implementing the large-scale military reform and the measures taken to strengthen the material and technical basis of the national army, train military personnel and create favourable conditions for life and service of military servants. Minister of Defence reported on the preparations for the military parade and other events, including the opening ceremonies of apartment houses for military servants in honour of the 22nd anniversary of Turkmenistan independence.

Prosecutor General A. Hallyev reported to the Turkmen leader on the current situation and the measures taken on the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan to strengthen discipline at prosecutor's offices which are to perform the important and responsible mission to ensure strict observance of law and order in the country. Emphasizing one again on the need to select the most competent and highly skilled personnel, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that honest and well-educated specialists, who are devoted implicitly to the principle of supremacy of law, should work at prosecutor's offices which are responsible for observing the laws. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan issued the Resolution on the appointment and dismissal of prosecutors.

Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov reported on the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the events held in the framework of the Road Safety Month and the preparations for the national holiday. The buildings premieres, including the opening ceremonies of apartment houses for specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will be held to mark Independence Day.

Chairman of the Supreme Court B. Charyev reported on the work done by the judicial bodies in the reporting period and the measures taken to strengthen discipline and increase the professional level of judges and put the administrative buildings of judicial bodies into operation in the regions.

Chairman of the State Customs Service A. Hojamgulyev reported on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions to enhance the effectiveness of customs examination of the goods, including transit goods, transported across the border of Turkmenistan. Minister of Justice B. Muhammedov reported on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions to bring the legal framework of the country in line with international standards. Chairman of the State Service for the Protection of Security of Healthy Society A. Osmanov reported on the work done in nine months of the current year to eradicate drug abuse that is a serious threat facing all humanity in the 21st century and the measures to struggle against illicit drug trafficking.

Chairman of the State Migration Service D. Bairamov reported on the work done by the State Migration Service in nine months of the current year and the measures taken to optimize its activities to implement a key priority of Turkmenistan's foreign policy - to enhance constructive international cooperation.

Summing up the discussion, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for the well-coordinated activities of the law enforcement agencies which are to stand guard of the political system and wage a relentless struggle against infringements of the law and crimes and ensure the wellbeing and peace of the country.

Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting.
