President of Turkmenistan congratulates military servants on the Day of Naval Forces

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies, the officers of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Defence, Navy seamen and cadets during his visit to Balkan Velayat on occasion of the Day of Naval Forces.

The Turkmen leader congratulated those present on the Day of Naval Forces of Turkmenistan and emphasized that they were to fulfil the important task of defending the beloved Motherland. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Navy seamen were the successors to the sacred traditions of our valorous ancestors – Oguzhan, Togrul Bek, Chagry Bek, Alp Arslan, Gerogly Bek – who left a mark in glorious history of the nation and therefore must do their duty and be faithful to the oath to the Motherland.

The President emphasized that the art of navigation in the Turkmen history emerged in the epoch of the Great Seljuks, the traditions of which developed nowadays. The Caspian Sea that plays an important geopolitical and geo-economic role in the region is of great importance to the Caspian states. The surface area of the sea is about 340,000 square kilometres, making the Caspian Sea one of the largest inland seas. The Turkmen leader noted that the Caspian Sea had 90 per cent of the world’s reserves of sturgeon. The plant and animal life in the Caspian Sea is diverse. It is the habitat for over 20 fauna species and about 20 plant species which are inscribed on the Red Data Book.

The President noted that everyone knew that the Caspian Sea and adjacent territories contained tremendous hydrocarbon reserves, which are of strategic importance for our country and other littoral states in terms of economic and social development.

The President said that the promotion of the art of navigation that we inherited from our ancestors depended on Naval officers and seamen, emphasizing that these aims could be achieved through the quality of training, patriotic education, physical activity and professional development. Naval officers and seamen should continuously improve their knowledge and skills and defence capability of the country. Congratulating once again those present on the professional holiday, the Turkmen leader wished them good health, long life, family wellbeing and every success in their service to enhance fame of our Motherland and expressed belief that they would fulfil the tasks.

In their turn, the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies heartily congratulated President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the Day of Naval Forces of Turkmenistan. Expressing sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for his unceasing concern for the conditions of service and life of military servants, those present assured that they would continue to perform their military duty and fulfil all the tasks.

Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, the President once again wished the meeting participants every success in their service and left the venue.
