President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the state policy issues and draft documents were considered.

The Vice Premier presented the reports. The information on the progress in implementing the Financial and Economic and Banking Sector Development Programme for 2012-2016 and the national programmes aimed at the optimization of activities of financial organisations was presented. The reports covered the preparations for a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council, which would be held in Dashoguz. The information on the preparations for the International Conference “Energy Security and Sustainable Development – the OSCE Perspective” was presented.

The reports covered the preparations for the opening ceremonies of buildings and facilities, in particular the Yyldyz Hotel under construction in the south of Ashgabat and new facilities at the Ashgabat textile complex, in honour of the 22nd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.

The information on the preparations for the Exhibition of Turkmenistan’s Economic Achievements, which would take place in Ashgabat on October 17-19 in honour of the 22nd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, and the International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan, which would take place in Avaza national tourism zone in the Avaza national tourism zone on 18-19 October, was presented.

The reports covered the progress in seasonal agricultural works and the measures taken to accelerate the cotton campaign, the winter crops sowing campaign and the tree planting campaign. The reports spotlighted the progress in implementing the Oil and Gas Industry Development Programme for the period till 2030 and the measures taken to accelerate the development of the Galkynysh gas field.

It was noted that the Presidential scholarship and other scholarships had been established in order to encourage talented students of higher educational institutions and vocational schools. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the March 9, 2012, 123 and 46 scholarships were established at 22 higher educational institutions and 18 vocational schools respectively. The information on the preparations for the celebrations in honour of Independence Day and the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the United States was presented.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Order on the opening of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea (Seoul) and the Resolution on the opening of the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan (Aktau).

Other state policy issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting.
