Palaces of happiness – a symbol of the epoch of might

The opening ceremony of the Palace of Happiness Bagt Kosgi took place with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the administrative centre of Dashoguz Velayat.

Addressing the ceremony participants, the Turkmen leader congratulated them on the remarkable event.

The President noted that the significance of the Palace was enhanced by the participation of the wise elders, respected mothers and distinguished guests, who had arrived in Dashoguz to take part in a meeting of the Elders’ Council, in the opening ceremony.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the magnificent building offered favourable conditions for bright and solemn wedding ceremonies as well as consistent efforts on collecting, studying and distributing the materials about the traditions and customs fostered by the Turkmen people over many centuries. Also, the conditions created at the Wedding Palace make it possible to carry out organizational and methodological activities to organize and hold wedding ceremonies.

The President noted that the national laws guaranteed the benefits to young families. These are the paid leave provided to the newlyweds and their parents. Also, they can receive soft loans to purchase homesteads and household goods, a house or flat and young families who want to build a house can receive a plot of land.

“Let festivities be held and music of happiness play forever in the Palace!” the President said.

A theatre show based on national wedding rituals and customs was performed before the audience after a wedding procession had arrived at the Wedding Palace.


The Wedding Palace is built in the picturesque green area of the town between Ruhnama Street and Bitaryplyk Avenue. The territory of the Palace, which occupies an area of four hectares, is planted with trees and fragrant flowers. There is a cosy garden with fountains and lights in its territory. The main building, which an area of 4,250 square metres, combines the latest engineering thought and bold solutions in the interpretation of the traditions of national architecture and consists of four buildings with a different number of floors. The height of the central four-storey tower is 37 metres.

The Turkmen leader cut the ribbon and invited the five newly married couples, for whom it was the most exciting and memorable day in their life, to enter the Palace of Happiness.

Golden ornaments and carpet patterns shining against the dazzling white background add bright colours and luxury to the halls of the Palace of Happiness. The paintings of Turkmen artists depicting wedding celebrations, lyrical landscapes and still lives adorn interiors.

The Palace houses several halls for marriage ceremonies and celebrations, beauty salons, shops of wedding dresses and costumes, consumer services centres offering a wide range of services.

The Turkmen leader visited the shops located on the first floor where visitors could buy wedding dresses, jewellery, carpets and caret articles, souvenirs and wedding accessories and confectionery products.

The President visited a banquet hall designed for 500 visitors. Favourable conditions for wedding ceremony participants are created in the festively decorated spacious hall flooded with the light of crystal chandeliers.

There are two halls for marriage ceremonies designed for 50 visitors each and a photo studio on the first floor. The Turkmen leader visited the photo studio. Beauty salons, shops of perfumes and wedding souvenirs and offices supplied with state-of-the-art office equipment and advanced technologies, which ensure the smooth operation of the building, are located on the second and third floors of the Palace.

Then the lift took the President of Turkmenistan to the fourth floor where the Turkmen leader visited the wedding hall designed for 100 guests. The five newly married couples, who were entering into a marriage on that day, greeted the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the wonderful wedding hall.

Greeting the newlyweds, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked to them about their lives and plans for future. In accordance with the centuries-old national traditions, the national leader blessed the young couples for a happy life together and gave wise precepts, wishing love, prosperity and long life to the new young families.


In a solemn ceremony the young couples put their signatures on marriage certificates and exchanged rings. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a picture with the newlywed taken and wrote an entry into the Book of Guests of Honour in commemoration of the unforgettable event.

Upon concluding the opening ceremony of the Palace of Happiness, the Turkmen leader presented the keys to a new car to the Wedding Palace.

The large-scale celebrations in honour of the newlywed, who had bound their lives together on that day, were held in the banquet hall of the Palace of Happiness Bagt kosgi in Dashoguz in the evening.

The representatives of public organisations, the delegates of the Elders’ Council representing all the regions of our country and Turkmen diplomats – the ambassadors of Turkmenistan in foreign countries, members of the Humanitarian Association of the World Turkmen and cultural and arts workers were the guests of honour to the wedding celebrations.
