President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the people of Turkmenistan on the great holiday, the remarkable date in our centuries-old history - the 22nd anniversary of independence of neutral Turkmenistan. Therefore, October 27, 1991 - the epoch-making date of gaining the sacred independence of Turkmenistan is inscribed into the glorious history of our people.
"The consciousness and life of our people have dramatically changed within the years of independence that were remarkable for the progressive growth, fundamental reforms and historical events. The large-scale work that promoted the social and economic development of the country as well as the increase of the living standards of the citizens of Turkmenistan was done and the national model of the competitive economy was created within the years.
"Great successes were achieved in the economic, political and cultural spheres of life of the Turkmen society within the years of the sovereign development. The relations with the countries all over the world reached the qualitatively new level based on the principles of the good-neighborliness, humanity, peacefulness and friendship, which were bequeathed by our ancestors. Today, independent neutral Turkmenistan puts forward constructive initiatives in the name of the global peace, prosperity and sustainable development that contribute to the growth of the authority of our country at the international arena.
