President of Turkmenistan attends the presentation of new construction projects

The presentation of the projects aimed at the modernization of social and road transport infrastructures in the Turkmen capital and the development of the Avaza national tourism zone took place with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Ruhiyet Palace.

In the afternoon, the President of Turkmenistan walked from the Oguzhan palace complex to the Ruhiyet Palace, where the cabinet ministers, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the Ashgabat Khyakim and the media representatives greeted the Turkmen leader.

The stands with the draft designs of new buildings and facilities and the proposals for the development of city road networks were installed in the lobby of the Palace. In particular, the projects for the reconstruction of highways and the construction of road bridges and flyovers and the layouts of buildings, intersections and associated facilities were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.


Vice Premier Sh. Durdylyev reported in detail to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the projects. In summary, it is planned to reconstruct 12 city streets with total length of 59 kilometres, build 18 bridges, 39 underground crossings and 15 aboveground crossings. All this will contribute to optimization of traffic flows and increase the capacity of the road network in conditions of intense motorization of the city. The works to be carried out include the replacement of transport networks and installation of modern road safety systems, including traffic lights, surveillance cameras and radars. Electronic display boards, LED displays, etc. will be placed on the renewed avenues and highways. The President considered the layouts of new street intersections in Ashgabat, the draft designs of the two-level road interchanges to be built on a number of city avenues, underground crossings, bus stops, lighting columns, etc.

After thoroughly considering the projects, the President emphasized once again that new highways and transport infrastructure facilities under construction in Ashgabat and all the regions of the country should meet the highest international standards in all respects, including the quality, reliability and safety standards. The Turkmen leader also focused on the need to improve the areas adjacent to the highways. The President noted that transport infrastructure should develop further in compliance with modern requirements taking into account the growth prospects of the main city of the country.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the draft designs of the Government building under construction in Ashgabat and the surrounding area. Vice Premier A. Gochyev presented the projects of new hotel, entertainment and services infrastructure facilities to be built in the Avaza national tourism zone to the President for consideration.

While thoroughly considering the projects, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov provided some specific comments and recommendations to architects and designers, emphasizing that the implementation of the projects would contribute to the development of seaside resort infrastructure and the improvement of the quality of tourism services.

The top managers of the company Nata Insaat Turizm Ticaret ve Sanayi AS that had drafted the projects of transport infrastructure facilities noted that each project had been developed in compliance with the development concept of the Turkmen capital.

Addressing the Vice Premiers and the heads of ministries and departments involved in implementing the urban development programme, who were present at the presentation, the President instructed them to thoroughly consider all the issues relating to construction of new buildings and facilities and develop holistic approaches to the implementation of these projects and the detailed work plan.

The President of Turkmenistan said that large-scale facilities being built today must produce long-term social and economic effects. Their aesthetic component that plays a significant role developing in artistic and architectural solutions of the urban environment should be taken into consideration. Noting that experienced teachers and talented students of the State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the State Academy of Fine Arts should be involved in the important work, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to hold a meeting on these issues.

Addressing the Minister of Communications, the Minister of Energy and the Chairman of the Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern, the President focused once again on the need to take an integrated approach to construction of new transport infrastructure facilities and demanded that the effective work of the aforesaid agencies should be ensured facilitating the implementation of the project and the economic return on investment in the sector. In conclusion the President wished every success in fulfilling the tasks to those present.
