The Chairperson of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, Lebap Velayat Khyakim, numerous participants and guests of the opening ceremony and the newly married couples, who were the first to enter into marriage at the new Wedding Palace on that day, greeted the Turkmen leader in the square in front of Bagt Kosgi.

The Wedding Palace is located in the central part of Turkmenabat. Beauty and comfort, the latest engineering thoughts and the age-old national traditions of architecture are embodied in the design of the new building.

Addressing the ceremony participants, the Turkmen leader congratulated those present on the remarkable event - the opening of the Palace of Happiness in Turkmenabat, the administrative centre of Lebap Velayat. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the wonderful Wedding Palace built by the private construction company Altyn gul would be the modern centre of the national cultural policy. The necessary conditions would be created in three banquet halls for 50, 100 and 500 seats to hold wedding ceremonies and parties following the bright and rich national traditions.

Wedding ceremonies as well as performances of composers and artists will be held and best works of the national art of singing and music will be heard in the walls of the Palace of Happiness. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the Wedding Palace would be some kind of cultural and methodological centre. The activities to be held there will contribute to promoting the national culture, fostering the high moral qualities in youth and effectively using the potential of the spiritual sphere.

Focusing on the Turkmen wedding rituals and traditions which emerged in ancient times and were passed on from generation to generation over many centuries, the Turkmen leader emphasized that the staff of the Palace of Happiness were to preserve and maintain the best traditions of the Turkmen nation and follow and adopt the modern trends.

A theatrical performance - a Turkmen wedding ceremony with all rituals and rites - was presented in the square in front of the Palace. Folk dances and songs added bright colours to the wedding rituals.

The President cut the ribbon and invited the five couples, for whom that day was the most exciting and memorable one in their lives, to enter the Palace of Happiness.

The three-hectare territory of the Palace of Happiness is planted with trees and flowers. There is a garden where the newlyweds will plant young trees. A tree symbolizes the long life for many peoples of the world, and soon young trees will grow into a green oasis around the Wedding Palace.

The Turkmen leader visited the Bagt kosgi jewellery shop, flower shops and shops of wedding dresses on the first floor.

Then the President visited the banquet hall for 500 seats. The hall is decorated in national style and has a luxurious interior. The Turkmen leader visited the carpet shop, photo studio and sweet shop on the first floor.

There are the beauty salon, perfume shops, souvenir shops, offices and administrative departments supplied with office equipment and systems that ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the building, on the second and third floors.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Golden Hall where wedding ceremonies would take place. The happy newlyweds - the five beautiful couples - greeted the Turkmen leader. It should be noted that the costumes of the brides and bridegrooms were designed in national colours and modern fashion trends.

Greeting the newlyweds, the Turkmen leader gave his blessing to the young couples for the happy life in accordance with the age-old national traditions and wished happiness and wellbeing to the young families.

The newlyweds put their signatures on certificates and exchanged their wedding rings in a solemn ceremony. Following the ancient ritual, the young couples tied 'alaja' - a talisman against the evil eye woven from camel's hair and decorated with silver pendants - to each other. Nowadays, this ritual is performed during wedding ceremonies like centuries ago.

The young couples expressed sincere and cordial gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for his unceasing concern for the welfare of young families and a wonderful gift - the new magnificent building of the Wedding Palace.
