President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies for 11 months of the current year was considered and the priority measures for strengthening the material and technical basis of law enforcement forces were identified.
The high-ranking military and law enforcement officials reported on the work done in the period, the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions, the progress of the military reform aimed at enhancing the defence capacity of the national army and improving the conditions of life and service of military servants. In particular, the meeting participants reported on the progress of construction of military camps and frontier posts, training of highly qualified specialists and the measures taken to store and maintain equipment and machines purchased for the law enforcement forces of the country.
It was reported that the State Service of the Protection of Security of the Healthy Society jointly with the law enforcement agencies had revealed the criminal group involved in illicit drug trafficking.
The projects of new facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the buildings of the customs services to be built in the regions of the country were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
Commenting on the reports, the President focused on the need to continue the important work towards maintaining the law and order in the country. Approving the projects in whole, the Turkmen leader made some amendments and recommendations.
Expressing belief that the law enforcement and military agencies would continue to increase joint efforts to eradicate drug abuse and combat illicit drug trafficking, the President focused on the need to raise awareness of citizens, especially youth, of these social evils.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting of the State Security Council.
