The official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates has started on December 9. The relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE have developed within the framework of the bilateral and multilateral basis against the background of the active dialogue between Turkmenistan and the countries of the Middle and Far East that is prioritized by the foreign-policy doctrine of the Turkmen state.
Turkmenistan and the UAE established the diplomatic relations in October, 1995. At present, the legislative and regulatory basis of the two countries includes 28 documents. The willingness of the two countries for searching new vectors of the trade and economic cooperation was proved during the meeting between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who paid an official visit to Turkmenistan in February, 2013. As was noted during the top level talks, our countries are the largest partners of Turkmenistan and the UAE in the trade and economic sphere. The volume of bilateral trade between the two states has made up US$ 1.423 billion in 2012. As compare to 2011, last year the trade turnover increased up to 59 percent. Over 50 enterprises of the United Arab Emirates have registered in Turkmenistan as of January, 2013.
According to the leaders of the two states, the Joint committee for cooperation plays an important role in promoting the business relations between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The countries pay significant attention to the comprehensive development of the cultural and humanitarian relations that promote mutual understanding and strengthening the ties of friendship between the two fraternal peoples. That is vividly testified by holding the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the UAE on the eve of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the country as well as the Days of the UAE Culture in Turkmenistan to be held next year.
The top level meeting in the UAE will specify the key vectors of the further cooperation between the two friendly states that demonstrate the mutual aspiration for enhancing the fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation as well as the common constructive approaches to solution of the important issues.
