President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the world’s largest Meydan Racecourse during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Early in the morning President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his associates walked along the quay in Abu Dhabi. Then the motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan headed from the luxury Emirates Palace to the five star deluxe hotel in Meydan City. The warmest, cordial welcome was extended to the distinguished Turkmen guest there. UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum greeted President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the main entrance of the hotel.
After the meeting ceremony the President of Turkmenistan and the UAE Vice President held talks. The sides discussed a wide range of issues relating to the development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sectors and other priority spheres. The UAE Vice President congratulated the Turkmen leader on the success of the top-level talks in Abu Dhabi. Given close attention that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pays to the development of horse breeding and the revival of its ancient traditions in Turkmenistan, it is not by chance that the visit to the well-known equestrian sports complex in Dubai was included in the visit programme of the Turkmen leader to the United Arab Emirates.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov showed interest in the technological characteristics of the facility. Then the President of Turkmenistan and the Meydan Racecourse managers drove to the demonstration area on which fast horses are taken before the competitions.
During the conversation President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov drew parallels between the ancient Turkmen and Arab art of horse breeding famous throughout the world. In this regard, the Turkmen leader focused on the similar views of the two states on the development of equestrian sport, noting that cooperation with the UAE in this field was quite topical.
After the visit to Meydan City President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with UAE Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdam Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the elder brother of the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Prime Minister and Vice President. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of interstate cooperation in the investment, energy, transport and communication, processing, tourism and other sectors. The sides focused on the importance of promoting traditional cultural contacts. Upon concluding the meeting, the Turkmen leader and the UAE Minister of Finance exchanged hearty wishes of happiness and prosperity.
Before leaving Meydan Racecourse, the President of Turkmenistan thanked the hosts for an interesting presentation of the unique complex and warmly bade farewell, wishing them every success and expressing belief that Turkmenistan and the UAE would promote bilateral cooperation.
