President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania in Turkmenistan, a member of Titulescu European Foundation, a member of Board of the Association of Ambassadors and Career Diplomats in Romania Ion Porojan, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 18th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan.
The guest cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader on the national holiday – Neutrality Day. Mr. Ion Porojan presented the Turkmen leader a souvenir edition of his book Ahalteke Horses – Our Pride and Glory that he, being an ardent admirer of Ahalteke horses, translated into the Romanian language. The diplomat noted that Turkmenistan aroused keen interest in Romania and all over the world today. The book by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Ahalteke Horses – Our Pride and Glory is some kind of chronicle of the ancient history of the Turkmen people, where a special place belongs to the ‘heavenly horses’ – an embodiment of the unsurpassed talent of the nation who had nurtured and presented the paragon of beauty and perfection, as Ahalteke horses are rightfully called, to the world. The presentation of this book will take place in Romania next February.
Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on Turkmenistan’s continued commitment to the foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality and fruitful cooperation. The key aspects of this cooperation include preservation of the universal cultural heritage, an indisputable asset of which is Ahalteke horses – the pride and glory of the Turkmen nation.
During the meeting the sides discussed the opportunities and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the humanitarian sphere, particularly in science, education, culture and tourism. Particular attention was paid to promotion of the Ahalteke breed worldwide and development of equestrian sport.
