President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Jan Kubis, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Conference “Neutrality of Turkmenistan: the Strategy of Peace, Security and Sustainable Development”.

The Turkmen leader and the distinguished guest exchanged views on the prospects of fruitful cooperation based on the positive experience of cooperation accumulated in recent years. The issues relating to global energy security and the situation in Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting.

Upon concluding the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Jan Kubis expressed belief that constructive Turkmenistan- UN cooperation would develop further.
