President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, who arrived in Ashgabat leading an official delegation of his country.

Greeting the IRI Foreign Minister, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his best wishes to the leadership of Iran, focusing with satisfaction on the progressive development of the constructive Turkmen-Iranian dialogue in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The Turkmen leader placed emphasis on fruitful activities of the Intergovernmental Commission that proved to be a reliable mechanism for implementing bilateral agreements.
The Turkmen leader invited the Iranian side to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 290th birthday anniversary of the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fraghi, who is deeply revered all over the world, including in neighbouring Iran. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited IRI President Hassan Rouhani to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit at any convenient time. The dates of a visit would be agreed through diplomatic channels.
