President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the Vice Premiers, the heads of the ministries and departments concerned and the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat. The meeting agenda focused on the progress in implementing the social and economic development strategy and the national and sectoral development programmes.
During the videoconference the heads of regional administration reported on the measures taken to prepare fields and agricultural equipment for sowing cotton and other agricultural crops and take care of winter wheat fields. It was also reported on the measures taken to improve water supply to agricultural fields as well as to introduce the scientific achievements and use the most advanced technologies.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the measures taken to improve the social and living conditions for the local population, on the progress in implementing the National programme on improving villages and settlements. It was also reported on the progress of construction works in Lebap Velayat and Balkan Velayat, including the objects under construction in Avaza Etrap in Turkmenbashi. Reporting on the measures taken to beautify the capital city, the high-ranking officials dwelt upon the development of urban infrastructure, the progress in construction of a number of facilities of the energy complex.
The reports on the measures taken to purchase the relevant equipment to broadcast sports events and establish international cooperation in this sphere were presented during the videoconference meeting.
The President was informed on the outcomes of a working visit to the Republic of Belarus on January 29 - February 1, 2014.
The projects of horticultural and floricultural greenhouses and modern buildings to be built in Ashgabat were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the issues which are essential to heating apartment houses, schools, kindergartens and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of electricity supply systems. Moreover, given the current weather conditions and glassy ice on the ground, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to take all necessary measures to prevent traumatism and cold-related diseases among the local population. The President gave instructions to provide a wide range of drugs in the pharmacies working round the clock as well as ensure the high organizational level of work of family doctors.
After considering the projects, the President provided some comments and recommendations on them and gave specific instructions to the relevant officials.
